What goes up must come down!

For 2025, we thought we would go back to just our three routes Epic, Challenge and Sport. The Epic is almost as long as last year’s Ultra, but without having to climb Duncton Hill twice. The Sport remains the same, but we have also made the Challenge a bit more challenging!

The Start/Finish remains at Woolmer Hill, with all riders (Sport, Challenge and Epic) taking the same route to South Harting and the first Sport feed station. The Challenge and Epic peel off at South Harting and go to Charlton for their first feedstop via Butser Hill.

Epic riders can refuel at Charlton before carrying on to Walberton, our new feed station. A full description of each route can be found on their respective pages.

Little Lumpy has been run as an annual event for over 15 years and continues to be a ‘not-for-profit’ event, with monies raised being distributed between Haslemere Festival and an elected partner charity. We are very pleased to announce that 2025’s partner will be Midhurst Palliative Care. Their team provides clinical treatment and care to manage the symptoms of a life-limiting illness and give patients a good quality of life.

That’s vital work and is at the heart of everything they do. But palliative care is holistic, so they also aim to make sure their patients feel supported and comfortable, so they also include:
• Offering emotional, spiritual and psychological support to patients and their families. The Midhurst Macmillan Service has a whole team of counsellors and complementary therapists who offer additional care.
• Providing practical support such as planning for the future or getting equipment to help our patients live as well as possible. Practical support can also include help with shopping, respite visits or transport to appointments.

As in previous years, you will be able to enjoy the warm welcome and home baked cakes at the feeding stations around the course. This is only possible due to the dedicated group of volunteers and Haslemere bakers, whose efforts seem to have become legendary, with the tempting selection probably the best to be found at any Cycling Sportive throughout the country. In addition, at the start there will be a free breakfast on offer, comprising tea / coffee plus a bacon butty or equivalent vegetarian option. At the finish, the bar will be open and a hot meal will be available at a small price. So stay and linger to enjoy the company of your new found cycling friends and share your experience of what is one of the top Sportives in the South East of England.

As a Sportif, every participant must come prepared to complete their chosen course, having adequate apparel for the weather, which can be quite changeable at this time of the year, and have the necessary knowledge and equipment to deal with punctures and minor mechanical issues. A mechanic will be on hand at the Start and at South Harting feed station with some spares, and may be able to resolve more significant mechanical issues.
